This New Eileen Fisher Cardigan Is Interesting . . .

November 16, 2009

When you’ve purchased a brand for as long as I’ve purchased Eileen Fisher you pretty much have an idea of what the item is going to cost before you even look at the price tag . . . so that’s why I had to do a double take when I saw this cardigan pop up at Bloomingdales.com:

At first glance: it looks like a traditional cardigan but when I zoomed in I saw that it only has the 2-buttons on top, it isn’t a traditional, fully button-downed cardigan, okay . . . then I saw it’s got some gathered pleating in the back, again, okay – that’s what Eileen Fisher clothing often does: puts a new little twist on a traditional style but what REALLY makes this Eileen Fisher Cardigan interesting is the price tag: $118

$118 for an Eileen Fisher Plus Size Cardigan?  $118 for an Eileen Fisher shell to go underneath a cardigan – THAT I am used to but $118 for the cardigan itself? NEVER

If you’ve been a reader of this site you may remember back at the end of September when the Eileen Fisher “Snowfall” jacket first appeared:

I mentioned about that particular jacket shooting my theory that Eileen Fisher was trying to cut pricing a bit due to the recent economic climate but perhaps now my theory is not so crazy.
