Proof That Plus Size Women Will Spend Serious Money

August 24, 2009

Upscale plus size clothing lines have been dropping like flies lately and the main excuse is plus size women won’t spend the money on upscale clothing.  REALLY?

I’ve had my eye on the STUNNING coat from Lafayette 148 . . .

it’s only been on the Saks website for 2 weeks and ALL SIZES are sold out with the exception of Sizes 14W & 16W.  The retail price?  $1,148

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! You get it, I get it. Why don’t retailers? It seems like Lafayette 148 is all I have left although I have been planning to try Anna Scholz but I was told Saks only carries it on their website and not in stores and I usually prefer to try a brand on in a retail location before purchasing it online.

And Thank YOU, Christine :)

There are so many reasons (very few which are justified in my opinion) for the lack of high end plus size clothing options so actually I guess rather than calling them reasons calling them excuses would be more accurate. And rehashing them just seems pointless at the moment :(

Ah, Lafayette 148 – as I write on the Lafayette 148 page on this site: Thank God for Edward Wilkerson! I mean they do plus size suits, they do stunning embellished evening/special occasion styles, casual, etc. There’s just no other brand out there right now to compare in my opinion.

As for Anna Scholz you really SHOULD give her stuff a try – I know what its like to prefer to try something on “in person” but all of the Anna Scholz at Neiman’s is at least 35% OFF (with a lot of styles marked down to 65% OFF) with Free Express shipping so now seems to be a perfect time to try!

Just keep in mind that in Anna Scholz a 12W = a US 16, 14W = US 18, 16W = 20, etc.

And from what I understand, you are correct: as of now Saks only carries Anna Scholz online.
