Yup, it is that time of year again, ladies: The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! Quite exciting although I have to admit my enthusiasm is dampened a bit as there are no new Misook plus sizes styles which I was hoping for based on the last few years
I was also hoping for some more Eileen Fisher in plus size but as my 8 year old niece used to tell me: “You get what you get and you don’t get upset . . . “ Hmmm, I guess her teachers never went shopping in the plus size department.
On to my top picks!
Of the few Eileen Fisher plus size styles they do have this “Waterfall Cardigan” is easily the most eye catching (it also comes in charcoal gray):
Regular readers of this site will know I’m not the biggest Calvin Klein fan when it comes to his plus size line but I’ll give the some credit over @ Calvin for this classic looking dress which looks like it can travel from work to evening:
Another dress that caught my eye is this surprise from Donna Ricco – a surprise because Donna Ricco’s dresses are usually Party Dresses with a Capital “P” – sometimes pretty, sometimes flirty, sometimes sexy but this dress is an elegant “I’m a grown up” sheath dress. To quote Carrie Bradshaw: “Me Likey”
I would be remiss if I failed to point up some of the real leather Nordstrom has for the plus sizes since most plus size “leather” jackets I run across tend to be faux leather
There is one from Nordstrom’s in house brand Caslon and one from Bernardo (there’s also one from Jones but to me it looks like the same exact one from last year) – both come in black and the Caslon also comes in a dark brown while the Bernardo also comes in brown and a sand color:
While I still mourn the loss of the Ellen Tracy bridge line – the company now doing coats and dresses under the Ellen Tracy name did pretty good with this ruffle shawl coat (also comes in Ivory):
Finally (in terms of anniversary sale items) since I like Nordstrom’s Caslon brand a lot I thought I’d throw 2 of my budget likes out there – on the left is a great shirred blouse that comes in several colors and on the right is an Eileen Fisher-esque ribbed cardigan that’s a bargain even at it’s full price of $68:
Finally, finally (truly, finally) while not a part of the sale two new dresses did pop up recently at Nordstrom that I did want to highlight – including the sexy yet femme black satin dress from Maggy London and (I’m a sucker for gray) the new party dress from JS Boutique:
Happy Shopping, My Fair Ladies!
