Kay Unger Plus Size

May 15, 2010

I can’t say for sure if Kay Unger stopped doing plus sizes and is now doing them again or if they/she never stopped . . . all I can tell you is I used to see some Kay Unger plus size dresses here and there and then: nothing so I just assumed Kay Unger was no longer doing plus BUT now some Kay Unger plus size styles have popped up at Saks.com

As of now there are just a handful of styles but I’m hopeful there will be more.

I’m hoping that the powers that be at Kay Unger saw the gap in the upscale plus size market created by the departure of Dana Buchman and Ellen Tracy and will be one of the designers (along with Elie Tahari) who will be stepping in to fill the void.  The styles are listed as being exclusive to Saks so my guess is that even if the designers out there aren’t aware of the void Saks is due to them having to try and stock Salon Z.

In terms of pricing: all 4 of the tops currently being offered retail for $380 – the pants retail for $340 and the skirt $290.

While Dillard’s may have stopped stocking Caroline Rose, thankfully they are still stocking Citron Plus Size.

Citron Plus Size Crane Print Jacket ($138)

Citron Plus Size Cropped Jacket ($132)

Citron Plus Size Vintage Jacket ($176)

In my absence there have also been a few other Citron Plus Size styles that were introduced, including:

Two other Citron Plus Size Styles were also recently marked down by 40%:

Karen Kane, a brand that used to be quite popular and had a presence in a lot of Department Stores I can now only find online at Dillard’s and they recently got in some new Karen Kane plus size styles for spring/summer.  I’m not really in love with any of it but this one silk chiffon top ($118) did catch my eye:

Marina Rinaldi Blouse

I’m not totally ga-ga over this new Marina Rinaldi Embroidered Cotton Blouse that just popped at Saks but there has been such a lull lately in new arrivals and sales and the selection of Marina Rinaldi online is quite limited so I figured: what the heck?

The blouse is done in a lightweight stretch cotton and has an empire waist.

Zappos is now carrying Johnny Was Plus Size.  The selection to start is a bit small but hopefully their selection will increase.  Their pricing is quite good considering the FREE Overnight shipping is included! As of now they have:

The Johnny Was Plus Size Roll-Up Tunic for $159:

The Johnny Was Plus Size Raquel Dress for $189:

The Johnny Was Plus Size Boyfriend Cardigan for $156:

The selection of Johnny Was Plus Size Styles at Neiman Marcus is really just spectacular and they’ve recently added to it . . . This Johnny Was “Melanie” Spanish Blouse is a bit different than the usual Johnny Was style as it is all one color and is done in a rayon:

Another good choice for those who like the Johnny Was style but shy away from too much color is this Johnny Was black and white embroidered dress:

Stizzoli Plus Size Embroidered Trim Dress ($950)

I love, love, love this dress by Johnny Was!

Johnny Was Plus Size Silk Dress

I’ll be honest: I don’t usually go for an all-over print – I don’t know if it’s because I tend to be a classic dresser or because most of the prints I see these days range from ho-hum to flat out horrifying but this beautiful print dress from Johnny Was has got my attention.

And you know, sometimes it’s fun to mix it up a bit.  People are so used to me dressing in my usual grays, blacks and navy that its fun every once in awhile to shake things up.  I remember buying a gorgeous print Lafayette 148 dress once and wearing it to a family gathering, and people gushed about how gorgeous it was and how it was such an unexpected look for me and well, it was fun!

So if you’re like me, go crazy and snatch this baby up and throw the people in your life for a loop!  It just popped up at Saks for $325 but they have it at Neimans for $290 (CLICK HERE)

And speaking of Johnny Was, Saks also has two new really pretty Johnny Was Plus Size Tunics:

Johnny Was Plus Size Orchid Top

$170

Johnny Was Plus Size Long Tunic

$255

I’m especially fond of the long light blue tunic which also comes in black, but do be aware: the Johnny Was Obi belt shown in the photo is sold seperately for $70:
